WELCOME! GREETINGS!

Hello there! I’m Camden. You may call me Cam if you would like!

I am a queer, interdisciplinary theatre maker between London, England, and Salt Lake City, Utah. I am the co-founder and co-artistic director of KID SISTER Theatre Collaborative, a non-profit organization, and a recent graduate from the University of Utah with my BFA in Theatre as part of the Actor Training Program. I am continuing my studies in London as part of the MFA Advanced Theatre Practice course at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama.

My primary research concentration has been on directing practices and rehearsal room facilitation. Most recently, I produced and directed my undergraduate senior capstone project of King Lear, in collaboration with designer Angela Rauf, and directed Radiant Vermin by Philip Ridley at Salt Lake Acting Company in partnership with Flying Bobcat Theatrical Laboratory.

The rehearsal room is an ecosystem: an ecosystem that thrives by way of hospitality, community agreements, and shared values. As adrienne maree brown wrote, “every member of the community holds pieces of the solution, even if we are all engaged in different layers of the work.”

“Barrett, the show’s director, does an excellent job of creating a wonderful sense of playfulness in their actors; across the board, their performances have a charming verve and enthusiasm. There’s a sense of freedom to their performances, but at the same time, they hit every emotional beat with absolute commitment and precision. It was also exciting and invigorating to me to watch a show in a professional setting but that has been created from top to toe by young, fresh talents. More of this, in the Salt Lake theater scene please!”

“The review speaks directly to Camden’s research objectives and success: collaborators get braver, more invested, agile and adept in their creative process through their work with them.

FAQs or …

Go-To Dinner?

I just LOVE to cook (especially for my partner and myself)…trying to be better at giving myself time to experiment in the kitchen. Most often, I’m cooking with quirky kinds of pasta and canned beans—because, you know, the student life. Anchovies and tinned fish are a recent obsession. AND capers are a must.

Groovy Tunes (ATM)?

“Kiss” by Prince, and “Oh to Be in Love” by Kate Bush.

Most Admired Maker?

My mom, Lindy.

Most-Cherished Film?

Singin’ In The Rain…It started it all for me.
